We're Craig & Marie Harris, Sheffield born & bred and we took over the Peaks in February of 2012 after previiously running a pub on the sunny Isle of Wight for the past two years.
It was after my appearance on Masterchef in 2008 that we decided we had to move our careers into food and drink and after two happy years on the Island we wanted to return home and the natural choice was the beautiful Peak District.
Castleton had always been a favourite of ours for as long as we can remember. As well as that the pub has so much going for it with a separate dining room, accommodation and its own large car park.
I look after the food along with help from our sous chef Dan as well as expanding the range available of my other passion, Real Ales.
Marie runs the bar and all that goes with it.... which includes four beautifully decorated guest bedrooms, each with its own individual style.
Our food is all about fresh local produce. If it's not fresh, local and, above all, seasonal then it's not really worth using and, in the current climate, making sure that everything we use is locally reared or grown keeps the money in the local economy and that can only be a good thing.
We're already getting accolades for our food and received a rave rewiew from Martin Dawes of The Sheffield Star.
